Fleurel® Dahlia – 8" White Dinner Plate Dahlia, 5-Pack Tubers
Fleurel® Dahlia – The 8-Inch White Dinner Plate That Florists Reach For First
In the world of dahlias, Fleurel® is a legend. One of the most celebrated white dinner plate dahlias in existence, it produces enormous 8-inch blooms of pure snow-white with the softest creamy center — flat, perfectly symmetrical, and breathtakingly elegant. On sturdy, long stems that hold up beautifully in the vase, Fleurel® is the dahlia that professional florists and wedding designers reach for when they need white flowers that make a statement. And in the garden, a single plant in full bloom stops people in their tracks.
Why Fleurel® Is the White Dahlia Standard
- Massive 8-inch blooms – True dinner plate size — among the largest white dahlias available. Each bloom is a showstopper in the garden and a centerpiece in any arrangement.
- Florist-grade cut flower – Sturdy, long stems and exceptional vase life make Fleurel® a professional florist and wedding designer favorite. Blooms last 7–10 days in water.
- Pure white with creamy center – Snow-white petals with a soft, warm cream center — a versatile, timeless color that pairs with virtually any other flower or color palette.
- Prolific producer – The more you cut, the more it blooms. Regular cutting encourages continuous flower production from midsummer through frost.
- Flat, decorative form – The wide, disk-like bloom shape creates maximum visual impact in both the garden and the vase.
- Container-friendly – Grows beautifully in large containers (15+ gallons) on sunny patios and decks.
Ideal Uses
- Cutting and flower arranging gardens
- Wedding and event floristry
- White and moon garden plantings
- Mid-to-back border specimen in sunny perennial beds
- Container planting on sunny patios and decks
Picture late July — you walk out to your cutting garden and there they are: enormous, perfectly formed white blooms the size of salad plates, glowing in the morning light. You cut a dozen stems for a wedding arrangement, and three days later the plant has already replaced them. That’s the Fleurel® experience — abundance and elegance in equal measure.
Growing Guide
- Zones: USDA 8–11 (perennial); zones 3–7 as an annual or dig and store tubers after frost
- Light: Full sun — 6–8 hours daily for best blooming
- Water: Regular, consistent moisture during the growing season. Avoid overwatering before shoots emerge.
- Soil: Rich, well-draining soil amended with compost; pH 6.0–7.0
- Planting: Plant tubers in spring after all frost danger has passed, 4–6 inches deep, eye facing up. Space 18–24 inches apart.
- Staking: Stake plants at planting time — dinner plate dahlias grow 4–5 ft. tall and need support before they need it
- Pinching: Pinch out the central growing tip when plants reach 12 inches to encourage branching and more blooms
- Cutting: Cut stems in the morning when buds are just beginning to open; place immediately in water. The more you cut, the more blooms you get.
- Storing tubers: In zones below 8, dig tubers after the first frost, dry for a few days, and store in a cool, dry location (40–50°F) over winter
- Mature size: 4–5 ft. tall
- Bloom time: Midsummer through hard frost
