Growing Guide

• Zones: USDA 4–9
• Light: Partial shade to full sun; best foliage color in partial shade with morning sun. Afternoon shade recommended in hot climates (zones 7–9).
• Water: Regular watering during establishment; drought-tolerant once established. Avoid waterlogged soil.
• Soil: Well-draining, humus-rich soil; amend with compost at planting
• Mature size: 12–18 inches tall and wide
• Bloom time: Spring (April–June)
• Division: Divide clumps every 3–4 years in spring or fall to maintain vigor; divisions establish quickly
• Winter care: Semi-evergreen; leave foliage in place through winter for root protection. Cut back in early spring before new growth emerges.
